About The Book Rescuers

Who are we?

The Book Rescuers was established in 2003 to provide a book reuse and recycling service to universities, libraries, and other organisations with surplus books.

We sell surplus books online so they can enjoy a new lease of life. Businesses, educational establishments, students, graduates, and the general public, who may not otherwise be able to afford new books, have the opportunity to purchase these books at a reduced price.

Why use us?

We provide a UK-wide collection service to make it easy to remove your surplus books, and we guarantee that none of the books we collect will ever go to landfill.

Having worked with universities, libraries and other organisations for many years, we understand the difficulties faced when withdrawing stock. Our service allows you to remove books in an environmentally friendly way by reusing or responsibly recycling them.

How does our service work?

Our service is simple and easy to use. We collect all the books that you have withdrawn, at your convenience. No sorting or categorising is required, and labels do not need to be removed. We even provide you with standardised empty boxes, delivered flat packed to your door and, where possible, accommodate picking up full boxes from multiple campuses instead of one central location.

Simply put your books in boxes, arrange a collection (or schedule a regular one for ease), and our team will do all the rest.

We provide a flexible service, from a few boxes of books right up to a van load.

When the books arrive back at our warehouse facility, we categorise them and resell through online marketplaces. If they aren’t saleable, we either donate them to charity or arrange for them to be recycled responsibly.

We pride ourselves on delivering a personalised service with a dedicated full time Collections and Logistics Team, so please get in touch!
